Bulgaria is a country in the Balkans in south-eastern Europe which features notable diversity, with the variety of landscapes, from the Alpines, covered with snow to the warm Black Sea coast. Bulgaria overall has a temperate climate, with cold winters and hot summers. Bulgaria's Black Sea coast stretches for 378 km. It is an endless series of golden beaches and multiple resorts and hotels. At the major Bulgarian resorts you can find many sandy beaches which are free and open for everyone. The majority of Bulgarian beaches have the Blue Flag of the European Union - the sign of environmental purity.

The biggest Bulgarian resort is Sunny Beach, located 35 km from Burgas and 95 km from Varna. Almost perfectly semicircular bay surrounds an 8 km sandy beach with natural sand dunes. The sea is very clean and safe without any dangerous fish or marine animals. The beach season here lasts from May to September. There are more than a hundred of hotels and nearly one hundred and fifty restaurants, sports bars, night clubs, cafes, discos along the beach.
View Larger Map	Justifying the fame of an ideal place for family holidays, Sunny Beach offers small children's pools, playgrounds, experienced animators and teachers in kindergartens working around the clock. While your kids are busy playing fun games, you can go to the theater or movies, a walk to the local shops or markets. The beach is equipped with numerous sport facilities such as mini-golf, beach volleyball, tennis courts, bowling, fitness halls. Sveti Vlas is a charming coastal village with a population of about 3000 people, located 5 km north of Sunny Beach and 9 km from the town of Nessebar. Its a place to escape from the noise of a large resort without loosing any comfort. There are three sandy beaches in the area with the total length of 1.5 km. The place has become very popular in the past few years, after the modern hotels and excellent tourist infrastructure had been built around the beach. Besides the traditional beach vacation the guests can enjoy walks in the woods and on the mountain slopes. Albena beaches are located in a picturesque and ecologically clean gulf, 30 km from Varna airport. Albena is famous for its gardens of flowers, sandy beaches and clean, safe sea, where you can swim from May to October. There are cozy corners, hiding in shady bushes near the beach, noisy bars and discos, taverns and restaurants with seafood of the national cuisine, sustained in a rustic style.
Golden Sands resort is the largest attraction on the northern coast of Bulgaria with such developments as St. Constantine, Elena and Riviera. The area is famous for the purest sand on the Black Sea and it is also part of the national park. The pipes with mineral water are gathered by the beaches. The average summer temperature is +27 C. The season lasts from May until late September. Pomorie. The little town of Pomorie is located on a narrow rocky peninsula, protruding into the sea for 3,5 km. The beaches are flat and sandy, stretching for 4.2 kilometers. Shallow water beaches here have no cold underwater currents which is good for families with children. The local salt lake is rich in medicinal mud, which treats many diseases in the local sanatorium. Mermaid Resort is located in a picturesque oak forest on the shore of Tauk Liman bay, 90 km from Varna and 40 km from Albena. It is a wonderful corner of rocky coastal line with beautiful sandy beaches. The harbor itself is full of small sandy beaches where you can see dolphins, hiding from prying eyes. The city of Varna is located in the bay of the same name and it is a popular seaside resort, considered the seaside capital of the country and is famous for its extensive sandy beaches. In July and August the number of sunny hours per day are up to 10-11. The sea here amazingly calm and safe.There is a Seaside Park that stretches along the beach with baths, Navy Museum, Natural History Museum, Observatory, Planetarium, Dolphinarium and a magnificent aquarium with marine and freshwater dwellers, as well as with tropical flora and fauna.
