Grenada is located in the West Indies, in the group of the Lesser Antilles on a large island with the same name and a small group of islands of the Southern Grenadines. On the west the country has the Caribbean Sea, on the east - the Atlantic Ocean. Grenada is the island of volcanic origin with a very uneven coastline, coral reefs, bays and plenty of secluded beaches. The inland areas of the island has dense tropical forests, mountain ranges, rivers, waterfalls and beautiful lakes. This place can be recommended to tourists who are looking for a quiet vacation. The nature of the island abounds with tropical forests and numerous waterfalls, the coastline includes many beautiful bays and beaches covered with white sands. In the craters of the extinct volcanoes hide lakes of surprising beauty.

The flora and fauna of the island has a great abundance of palms and other tropical trees, which are inhabited by different kinds of monkeys imported from Africa many centuries ago, as well as possums and mongoose. You can also see pelicans, brown cormorants, hawks and hummingbirds here.
View Larger Map	The island has no poisonous snakes, only boas, who live high in the trees and do not come into contact with humans. The re is a colony of turtles, but many species were extinct due to the fact that their meat is a delicacy and is included in the menus of many restaurants and cafes located on the coast of the island. Grenada is often called "the land of spices" because it ranks second in the world for the production of nutmeg. The resort areas of the island are of volcanic origin, so the nature is very diverse and rich, there are several hot mineral springs, waterfalls, mountain lakes and beautiful beaches that attract thousands of tourists. The main area developed for tourism with the country's largest hotels is located south of the capital, at the Grand Anse Bay. Saint George's is the capital of the island and a popular resort area. Cargo ships, cruise liners and colorfully painted wooden boats fill up the waters of the city harbor. There is a range of nice hotels here, well-developed infrastructure and an incredible number of cultural attractions.Curly maze of narrow streets and alleys on its western side is now a favorite place for many tourists. Grand Anse and Morne Rouge are the main resort areas of Grenada. The entire coastline of these cities is a one long beach of white sand, washed by the turquoise-blue water and surrounded by wooded hills.
The coastal strip has numerous hotels, bars and restaurants. If you want complete peace and quiet, you can visit a picturesque U-shaped bay of Morne Rouge, where the beaches are very good, and the number of people there is significantly less. Bathways beach is near the town of Sutures. Its a 3 mile long beach of coral sand, protected from the strong currents of the Atlantic by a rocky ledge. There are three islands near the beach: Sugar Loaf, privately-owned with one house on its southern shore; Green Island, which has several vacant buildings, but no beach, and Sandy Island, which is an abandoned hotel with a good beach for swimming on the leeward side. Levera Beach is a few kilometers to the east of Sutures. Its a wild strip of sand surrounded by the the fallen rocks from the marine cliffs. It lies directly opposite of Sugar Loaf island. This area is included in the system of national parks and Grenada is one of the few breeding sites in the Caribbean sea for turtles. Carriacou - a small rural island, 27 kilometers north-east of Grenada, has great beaches and shores. The natural harbor attracts many yachtsmen by the magnificent view of the neighboring islands of Grenada and the Grenadines.
