Desroches Island Beaches, Seychelles

Desroches Island is truly a paradise of sugary white beaches, soft and bright, connecting to an ocean of turquoise, jade, teal and sapphire blues. Desroches hovers roughly 230 kilometers southwest of Mahe, which is the main island of the Seychelles archipelago. Desroches, however, is one of the Amirante Islands, a cluster of atolls in the Seychelles' Outer Islands, whereas Mahe is one of the Inner Islands.

Desroches Island Beach, Seychelles Where to stay Wondering what's the best place to stay at close to this beach? Book your favorite vacation rental or hotel nearby.
The island itself is shaped rather like a squiggly line and is rimmed with beaches, though many do not have specific names. Bombay Beach is the main beach stretching languidly on the southwest side of the island, with all accommodations being set in the northwest quadrant.
Point Helene, to the south, also boasts the lighthouse, and in the northeastern part of the island is an aquarium, for those who cannot of do not want to engage in the amazing snorkel and dives sites the island has to offer.
Diving and snorkeling is definitely a huge draw on the island, as below the surface, it is riddled with caves and underwater coves. The sights below the water line are easily on par with the sumptuous scenery on land, if not exceeding it.
Desroches Island Beach, Seychelles
There are dozens of dedicated dive and snorkeling areas around the island, with professional divers to assist the intrepid explorer. Whether you are a well-seasoned diver or a beginner, the sights here are astounding and like nothing anywhere else. Neighboring islands also offer amazing dive spots and can be reached by a quick boat ride.
If the marine exploration is not for you, there are plenty of other diversions available on Desroches. Bicycling is very popular here and quite a beautiful experience. While motorized vehicles exist here, it is still the localsí preferred method of transportation and allows you to drink in the spectacular hinterland views, as does a good hike through the palm tree forests. During your stay, try your hand at kayaking, canoeing, boating or French bowling. Charter a boat for sightseeing around the island or fishing. See if lady luck is smiling on you at deep sea fishing and bring back a marlin or a tuna.
There is only one place for visitors to stay on Desroches; a top-end, stylish resort. It has grown quite a bit over the past few years and now offers a spa, among other pastimes. If you would like a beach picnic, the resort will prepare one for you. They will also provide free bicycles with which you can discover the island and its wildlife. There are tortoises here who occasionally like a good pat on the head, or watch the parade of crab and lizards. You will have to go out of your way to see most of the fauna on the island, as it keeps a respectful distance from visitors. Why not travel to Point Helene and view the lighthouse as it sits, a silent sentinel guarding the reefs?
Whatever you indulge in, whether water activity or on land, this finger of Eden is open, ready to serve up memories and experiences to highlight a lifetime.
